Some people want to know how to quit smoking because of the health issue as well as money burnt-up in sin taxes. I provide 3 tips in this commentary you could use to do it; among them are self-improvement skills that help develop esteem, which are easy to learn. Take my advice because it could help you stop a nasty habit that could put you into an early grave.
I’m a former smoker, which should make my opinion more credible than someone who merely intellectualizes theory about how to quit smoking. Therefore, I offer my humble opinion regarding what I learned about each tip. So, here are the 3 self-help tips about how to quit smoking.
The first tip on how to quit smoking is: Consider taking a pill.
There are pills out there that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. You could use: varenicline or bupropion; for example, to help you quit smoking.
Bupropion’s medical classification is ‘Antidepressants.’ Its primary purpose is for treatment of depression and works by increasing various types of brain activity. But it also affects the taste of cigarettes to the point that you say, “yuck” whenever you light one up.
Varenicline is primarily for smokers, and its medical classification is a ‘Smoker Cessation Aid.’ Varenicline blocks the enjoyable effects your brain feels from the nicotine high, which you get from smoking. It’s questionable, even doubtful, whether or not varenicline is effective in easing the psychological addiction of cigarettes.
I can’t give you personal experience regarding popping pills to quit smoking because I’ve never actually tried it. Here’s a list of other methods I haven’t tried:
- Acupuncture,
- Cold laser therapy,
- Hypnosis, and
- Voodoo.
Tip #2 on how to quit smoking is: Try to alleviate your craving for oral gratification.
You could use chewing tobacco, snuff, or nicotine gum. You could suck on a nicotine lozenge to get your nicotine hit, which is absorbed through your buccal mucosa just like nicotine gum.
Here’s a list of ways to get a nicotine hit that doesn’t involve oral gratification:
- Nicotine nasal sprays,
- Nicotine patches,
- Nicotine inhaler.
There are lots and lots of ways to get a nicotine fix without actually sparking-up a cigarette; but do you want to give up smoking, and get your nicotine fix by another means; or do you want to break the nicotine addiction altogether?
The third tip on how to quit smoking is: Learn self-improvement skills to develop self-esteem.
You might feel really good about yourself, so maybe you don’t think you need to develop self-esteem. But the self-improvement skills that I’m talking about also help you develop self-respect. Face the facts; smoking shows a lack of self-respect concerning your health.
Nicotine causes cancer. This is a no-brainer, we learned about it in grade school. Hey, I know it’s tough to quit–but you can do it by developing self-esteem with self-improvement skills.
Self-improvement skills are all-natural, and it’s a nicotine-free way to quit smoking. Here’s how it works: You change your subconscious reaction to cigarettes and cigarette smoke; and it can help you develop self-esteem.
The self-improvement skills, which work for me, are based on Aristotle Ethics. I learned the 3 very simple and easy-to-do ACTIONS steps, which I habitually perform; and it only take a few minutes to do it each day.
I use it to control my subconscious thoughts; so I usually behave how I really want to act without giving it a second thought, and that’s how I quit smoking too.
